In general, i’m pro-balkanization mostly because i don’t see a common future for the people in the US anymore, and splitting up the region into smaller communities might have the advantage that people can hold their representatives more directly liable, because they live closer-by.

We might end up with dozens of city states with all the tech and money, but none of the staples of life and vast tracts of impoverished rural thocracies that can only survive by selling food and raw materials to the city states.

They made it clear they were not going to stop them and all anyone was doing was putting their neck out to be later chopped off.
They already knew being better than the other guy was not enough to win elections yet they kept the same strategy of being more sold out and more worthless every election, offered no reform, offered no fight against anybody screwing us, and ran as the status quo against a Republican party running as reform, knowing full well the voters do not know any better.
