Summary

Elon Musk, after spending $21 million backing conservative Brad Schimel in Wisconsin’s Supreme Court race, amplified election fraud claims following Schimel’s loss to liberal judge Susan Crawford.

Musk boosted a post by Alex Jones featuring Roger Stone, who alleged mail-in vote fraud. Schimel rejected the claims, urging supporters to accept the results.

Musk pivoted to highlighting a voter ID ballot measure, though Wisconsin already requires ID. Critics see his reaction as echoing Trump-era denialism.

Despite GOP pressure, Schimel’s concession stood out for its rare break from MAGA conspiracy rhetoric.

All GOP elections “were stolen” when suffering such a loss… I would be embarrassed too, if I spent that “random winning money” the GOP voters were gifted and STILL were defeated by a LANDSLIDE! 😂 Drumpf is def cry texting his “friends” about it! Lmao!?

Damn, Epstein is dead… guess we don’t know who he was “texting” lmao!!!

Poor Musk was robbed, he was promised that if he paid generously, the election result would be guaranteed. In the end he was cheated, it’s unfair. Cry, Cry, crocodile tears. 😭

Unfortunately, the art community is still big. No other platform has as much engagement with small time artists. I use it just for that. Sometimes Ill get curious and see political tweets. They’re almost always filled to the brim with comments spouting: hate, disinformation or deflection. You’ll see sane comments but the algorithm buries them. I’m sure most are bots but the nazi-ism is definitely boosted.

I’ve made accounts on bsky, pixelfed and cara and post there also. Unfortunately the masses haven’t moved to those yet so commissions and posts are sparse.

Would be interesting if everyone still stuck using it consistently advertised a discount for finding them on any site besides Twitter. Might not make the biggest difference by itself but it could start a trickle that turns into the flood.

Basically a surcharge for users that only know Twitter or otherwise wouldn’t be bothered by the noise. Maybe call it a tarrif that can be easily avoided :)

Another way to look at it is like having to use Windows because that’s what they use at your job. There’s a problem but because most people are oblivious or don’t care, the momentum is difficult to escape. You may find it easy to say ‘quit you job then’ to fully show your disapproval but not everyone has that luxury.

I do hope everyone that is stuck using it mentions in every commission or interaction that they are available on different sites as well though.

Anyone still using it or of convenience though should quit immediately.

I actually tried to replace X a few weeks ago and considered Mastodon and Bluesky. Nobody I follow on X is on Mastodon, and only three are on Bluesky.

Go outside? I have never used Twitter and live a perfectly normal life. I have access to plenty of information and opinions from paid subscriptions to newspapers and personal blogs. No one can communicate anything serious on Twitter. For sport highlights or similar - I get it. For anything else - a social tool - people have simply forgotten to go outside and do real stuff with real people. You are lying to yourself by saying Twitter provides something you can’t live without.

Yes I’m familiar with the German word Quelle. All bottled carbonated water in Germany seems to come from one Quelle or another.

I’m thinking they were going for the English word “quell”?

            quell /kwĕl/

            transitive verb

            1. To put down forcibly; suppress.

              “Police quelled the riot.”

            2. To pacify; quiet.

              “finally quelled the children’s fears.”

            3. To take the life of; to kill.
              Similar: kill

Perhaps some leading election deniers are motivated by a psychological defense mechanism, but I think that many realize the strategic benefit. The members of the public who are convinced that Democrats steal elections will vote Republican. They’ll also be more willing to accept a Republican refusing to leave office after losing an election, if things come to that.

I disagree. While I will never forgive those voters, I don’t think most of them are lost causes. They’ve been manipulated by the largest, most well-funded misinformation and propaganda campaign ever waged against the American people.

Exercising even the smallest amount of critical thinking skills protects oneself against most of it, but no one is completely immune to misinformation.
