For nearly a decade Elon Musk has claimed Teslas can truly drive themselves. They can’t. Now California regulators, a Miami jury and a new class action suit are calling him on it.

Literally the same writer for Forbes, Alan Ohnsman, in January 2017, doing a lot of heavy lifting for these Musk lies that he now claims are catching up to Musk.
Maybe you shouldn’t have helped peddle them then, Alan & Forbes??
This was just a quick online search because I knew that Forbes helped glaze this lying fuck at one point, but it’s an extra layer of get fucked to have it literally be the same author.
Buddy, it’s been 8 years since then. People are allowed to, and are encouraged to change their opinions as time goes on. So the author bought the hype in 2017; And??? A LOT has changed since then, and it’s no shock that his stance has too.
Man, 8 years ago Elon was my literal hero, paving the road to a new space era and pushing for the solar & EV revolution. I ate that shit up right up till the cave incident.
How times have changed…now all I want is billionaire steak with my fava beans and an appropriated chianti
I never got sucked into his con luckily but I’ll forgive anyone liking Elon pre cave incident. But after that it just became more apparent with each passing day what a lying asshat he is.
I wouldn’t even eat Elon now. Thaf meat is rotten.
I mean, of course, but we’re literally talking about Forbes a financial magazine that has a long history of glazing CEOs when they shouldn’t have been. This is part and parcel to what they’ve been doing for decades now, so it’s a little silly to be like “but they can change their minds!”
For example, Elizabeth Holmes was on the cover of Forbes in September 2015, just months before the lid got blown off about her medical devices being hokum.
I’m all for people changing their minds, but these are media organizations who literally peddle the idea that these are “Great Men” (or women) who we should be looking up to. They aren’t doing the legwork to make sure their claims aren’t farcical, they just repeat them as sacrosanct. Fortunes, Forbes, the Wall Street Journal are all complicit in the entire fraud of CEOs being paid obscene amounts of money and over-inflating their importance, and they’ve been complicit in it for decades. Cheering on one of their writers because they changed their mind when evidence became far too obvious to ignore kind of misses the point entirely about these media organizations and how they enable these charlatans to steal the value of our labor from us and take it as their own.
So you’re upset that Forbes can’t tell the future?
He’s upset that Forbes did not do actual journalism. Anyone who looked into Theranos would have known that it was smelly from the beginning.
It was initially difficult to claim outright fraud, but the lack of peer reviewed research coming out of that company or that the diagnostics were even based on would have triggered anyone who was marginally competent in medical testing or even just biochemistry.
So Forbes sucks, and they printed what they were told.
I think the point is that most of our complaints are FUELED by companies like forbes published data. All of the speculation in Tesla that keeps the stocks high is because of all the glazing these writers keep pumping out in word form.
Elon is not technically that important to Tesla. Would be better if writers actually wrote about the stuff tesla as a company is ACTUALLY doing to further the industry rather than talking about Elon every waking moment.
Edit: At the time I kind of wanted a Tesla car even… and had it planned for my next vehicle. But the SpaceX thing turned me off completely and that turned out to have been the best choice in hindsight. Now there’s so many good options that are just better than Tesla.
So what you are saying that Forbes information should be treated with all the credibility of an LLM output?
That could be argued that they therefore can’t be held liable when they spew utter garbage.
That should have been the assumption forever. It was always like a “market hype” publication to get CEOs and the rich to wet their panties and work to get in the publication. Forbes never really did any good investigative journalism, it was always
“this company is the future!”
And “this company is definitely not the future!”
And “these young people are certainly the future!”
And “here’s the richest people!”
And it’s always been worse since it was acquired by a Hong Kong investment group almost ten years ago
When was the cave “pedo guy” incident? Prior to that I was a bit of a Musk fanboy. He had good PR and didn’t open his stupid mouth as much back then.
iirc like 2018. Maybe 2017.
July 2018.
We all did. Remember, he used to actually be very well-liked by the public at one point, on both sides. Hell, we were giving him Marvel cameos and everything. It wasn’t until the year after that article, that the public started to notice what a piece of shit Elon was; opinions on him didn’t really start shifting until his involvement in that cave rescue in 2018.
Instead of shitting on the author for a piece he wrote eight years ago, you should recognize that he now knows better.
It was starlink for me… When starlink was announced I was deeply interested. Then I did some research on LEO setups and did some thinking about why the current companies that do LEO stuff aren’t that big (because they do exist)… and realized that it was all garbage scam that could never even be profitable. It was rapid downhill for me since then. I think that was early-mid 2016?
Hey now some of us pegged him as a pissant years before he went mask off, but I will admit that for myself it was probably because of racism. I refuse to trust Anglo-Africans, they’re all shifty ass motherfuckers some of them can be shifty in a vaguely respectable way.
I’ve always thought him and his fan club were weird. The whole Tesla stan club with the stock and everything…dude just always came across as a grifter. Yeah he actually has products, but he also has a legion of fanboys who more than a few of turn out to be decent engineers and are willing to work for him and be treated like shit.
I’m also an engineer and the turnover rate at his companies is so high and always has been. It’s ridiculous.
