Andromeda was a good game after they fixed all the bugs. All they have to do is launch it in a playable state, which is nearly impossible for modern devs

I played through it quite a bit, finished the story and all the side quests, but that was more the completionist in me than the game itself. I thought the story was boring with too many side quests of “drive across the map and collect this item” and I barely remember it now. The trilogy story was insanely good to the point that I got emotionally attached to the characters unlike really any other game I’ve played.

The only good thing about Andromeda was the new setting / story.

The gameplay and class settings were lame.

That’s actually what annoys me most. They set up a new story, but then abandoned it before finishing it with sequels and leave everything unresolved.

Yeah that was disappointing. If they had taken their time with a sequel to narrow down what works it could have been great.

Wish for your lack of discernment, I’d have so many good-to-me games to play.

Nothing could have followed up and be better than or even match the Mass Effect trilogy. Andromeda attempts to be its own thing and I respect the evolution of a franchise over time. I’m not saying Andromeda was perfect, but only that it’s good enough. It’s a good way to waste time even if it isn’t a 100% good waste of time.

The only good is Mass Effect 1, the second one was consolized safe cookie-cutter third person gameplay with the stupidest game finale of all time. Haven’t touched the third after that shit.

I played it, and what sticks in my mind isn’t bugs, but poor writing and uninteresting gameplay. I think it’s middling at best and a terrible entry in the series.

I thought the gameplay was improved. I mean the actually mechanics. Clearing whatever the underground chambers were was a slog. The majority of the enemies were rather uninteresting too.

The story was pretty weak but it had some interesting side stuff. It could have been far better especially with the arks.

Huh…I guess I agree with middling. I had more fun replaying the trilogy.

I thought the story was great. It started slow but really picked up in the second half. And the gameplay really reinforced the idea of exploring a new galaxy by having the Mako driving around interestingly designed planets, instead of the boring procedureally generated ones in ME1. The only thing weird about the gameplay was having a jump button but I got used to it pretty quick.

I agree! I think I got a free copy somewhere, years after release, and really enjoyed it. Sure, I wish the characters had been a lil’ more fleshed out, but I had fun with it. I have to assume that the bulk of the negative reaction to it had to do with bugs and/or missing content on launch, that had been fixed by the time I got around to it.

I often have this experience, since the only game I recall buying on or before launch in the last decade is BG3.
