The social contract is completely and utterly broken. For as long as hard work and investments in one’s future gets people absolutely nowhere, we will continue to be a degenerating society that doesn’t give a shit about being aspirational. There won’t be anyone left to care about space exploration or scientific advancements if all of the extremely talented people who can make it happen have the ball and chain of capitalism holding them down and sucking the life out of them.
