“We looked at opinions from predominantly leftist individuals, ignored any responses from rightwingers, and came to the conclusion that no one in America is believing it.”

    I. Fucking. Hate. THIS. TIMELINE!

I want to get off the stupid ride! Do you hear me?! I WANT TO GET OFF!

I can assure you Trump supporters are buying it. I live in the south and they want Democrats rounded up into camps and put to death and want him to be a dictator. It’s bad here

Good. “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” meant something. It was a teaching moment for all the little children.

Shouldn’t they be on the streets overthrowing this corrupt government? I’ll care when they do.

Its been a long time since crowds in the street could overthrow their government my friend.

The entire idea of turning people against eachother using social media is to have them fight eachother and waste their lives and energy doing that, while Trump just keep saying ragebait things inbetween golf rounds to keep you in the anger zone.

That’s a bad idea when he told the military that he is declaring war on American citizens and kegsbreath said he is encouraging extreme violence and humiliation be done to American civilians by the military. We need a peaceful solution like a general strike because they are trying to incite violence so that they have an excuse

A general strike is the way. It kills capitalism quickly and once the rich turn on Trump, it’s over. He can’t justify using the military against that action like protests or riots. He’s impotent to do anything about it. If he tried to force people to work or some other insanity, the whole world would boycott the US. Just a couple days of a general strike would scare the living hell out of the owner class and Trump has no power without them behind him.

yea yea sure they aren’t. I lived most of my life in other places with similar shit shows and the abundance of “now they have crossed the line” or “now they are fucked” news never ceases in such scenarios. And they can go on for decades without causing any problems to fascism. To this day I don’t know if they exists because they help people cope or they are a part of the shitshow itself so that people don’t lose all hope and run away or descend into complete rioting. Probably mix of both.

It does! He recently hit an all time low for approval ratings.

The more people that turn on him, the less likely a true civil war is. Civil War is the worst case scenario for America right now. I don’t believe Trump is capable of actually pulling a Hitler (though he’s trying, he’s just too stupid and demented). Civil War, however… This could happen, and it would be bad for everyone.

This said, a replacement could do worse. Hard to look into the future right now when we’re all taking things one day at a time… But Trump’s cruelty seems to be the glue of the GOP. When he dies, since he’s an old ass man with dementia, things could fall apart for them.

So… For now it’s a very good thing when Trump loses support.

It starts matter when things progressively conservatively start falling apart.

Like so much else, the variance is heavily predicated on which media you consume.

But the curious thing is that I see Republicans undecided as to whether they want to blame Democrats for the Shutdown or Own The Libs by leveraging the Shutdown to do what they were going to do anyway. Lots of “Fuck Around, Find Out BITCH!” posting on social media, with the AI Generated Crying Blue-haired Liberals all filing out of a government building with their lay-off boxes.

The Republican brand has become so much of a “We don’t need Big Government!” bravado line that the libertarian wing of the party is once again enthusiastically supporting the current state of affairs. Not unlike what happened in 1995 and 2013 and 2019 and 2024, incidentally.

I mean, ALL the propaganda is being used against Democrats so no, probably not. Interestingly enough, though, confirmation bias might just keep people as entrenched on this issue as always so we probably won’t even see a change in the blame game regardless of what happens.
