We can thank the media and the established parties for normalising that vile fascist scum by treating them like a normal political party, and parroting their inhumane bullshit.

And at the same time vilifying actual reasonable progressive candidates like Habeck, who got absolutely shit on by all Springer outlets because he isn’t a corrupted puppet.

The media in EU are also influenced by Murdoch. Plenty of rightwing productions under his wing.

Murdoch media aren’t that much of a thing in Germany, but we have something equally bad: The Axel Springer conglomerate. They also do own a few international outlets, unfortunately.

Clickbait title. Going from 5% to 15% isn’t great, but it is still not that much in total and static compared to their result in the federal election in the same area 6 months ago.

5% is too many. 15% is alarming.

We’re talking people who believe in an ideology of hate, violence, racism, and the erosion of rights and freedoms.

Wars were fought to make sure this shit never happened again, and here we are, happening all over the world.

I’d say there always have been roundabout 20% of the population who held fascist views. Publically uttering those views and supporting fascist parties has been heavily stigmatised for a long time, though, so only very few dared to do so.

Unfortunately, the media and mainstream political parties have been normalising fascist views to a point that their supporters dare to shamlessly show their faces out in public now.

5 to 15 seems pretty significant. Might not win an election, but it’s a sign of huge momentum.

Not really a momentum when it didn’t increase at all in the last 6 months though.

They said it the same way on national TV… Well, another way to frame it is: 83 85% of people did not vote for their shit.

I know. Each and every fascist is one too many. But it seems at least 5 out of 6 of my neighbours are roughly on my side. It’s definitely getting uncomfortable. But at least in my city we did not have any counter-protest to the pride parade or anything like that… Guess I mainly wanted to acknowledge the lots of sane people who live here as well.

It’s insane how emboldened the nazis are getting. Got into a screaming match with a fascist throwing white power hand signs at a poor woman because he didn’t like how she parked her car. Midday on a weekend in a major city in front of a supermarket. Fucking scary.

“Democracy… is government… by the people… for the people… But the people… are retarded.” Truly oracular words from an enlightened soul.
