The evidence they are saying they have isn’t much. A blurry photo from a stairwell security camera, some distinctive clothing and palm and forearm prints. None of those things is really actionable without more to go on. Clothes can be destroyed and palm and forearm prints aren’t useful for identifying someone (but could be used for confirming an identification if they are of sufficient quality).
Undoubtedly the investigators are not revealing everything they have.
Of course they aren’t, and that is how a proper investigation works. They have also been coy about exactly what kind of rifle, and haven’t released what the “messages” written on the ammo are.
