You know they do this on purpose, and you just showed exactly why it works. They make the design controversial so people talk and argue about it. They thank you for the free advertising.

I assume anyone with one of those BMWs with the giant grilles is a psychopath.

That’s literally Jaguar’s business approach now.

I’m not sure others are necessarily doing that on purpose yet, but you are not a conspiracist here, lol.

Jaguar had no choice. I was working for one of their suppliers until a couple of years ago and their sales figures were not good. Nobody was buying their saloon cars anymore, and their SUVs were selling well but were essentially eating into Land Rover’s market share, so they had to do something different. It is easier to sell low numbers of outrageously expensive cars than to mass produce cheaper ones so that’s what they’re gonna do.

That makes sense, but is weird to me, as their smallest sedan was really good. And cheap, compared to BMW and Mercedes! The others were too.

It feels like a reputation/trendiness problem. And that doesn’t exactly bode well for the outrageously expensive car market.

The BMW is the upcoming BEV iX3. The first vehicle to be built on the Neue Klasse chassis. It’s a big leap forward in BEV tech over anything currently offered by BMW. Has 800 km range and 800V architecture.

“One of the most substantial updates to the 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the evolution of its SAE Level 3 autonomous driving system, Drive Pilot. Previously capped at 37 mph (60 km/h), Drive Pilot now operates at speeds of up to 59 mph (95 km/h) on highways—though only in Germany for now. Mercedes clarified that this increase is pending regulatory approval in the U.S., where the system remains limited to 37 mph. The point of advertising is to keep your brand in the public conversation. Whether that conversation is in favour of your brand or not is secondary at best. First and foremost you want people to know about your brand.
