Libby is (I just found out) one of several apps that let you read anything digitally available at your library, there are some other libraries that allow you to get a card for a small fee.
upside- Can read on your phone (I use dark background with while letters).
can have more than one library
other apps allow movie and digital media borrowing
downside: popular books have multiple people waiting in line for a copy, you can place holds, etc.
Not gonna lie, I looked into this at my local library and seeing a waiting list for an ebook radicalized me against capitalism just that little bit more
