I wish we could go back to 2003, when the US didn’t go to war for regime change

Social media took up the place in my life for most of my reading, that has since changed since finding a Library app for books and, of course, the nazification of most platforms

Libby is (I just found out) one of several apps that let you read anything digitally available at your library, there are some other libraries that allow you to get a card for a small fee.

upside- Can read on your phone (I use dark background with while letters). can have more than one library other apps allow movie and digital media borrowing

downside: popular books have multiple people waiting in line for a copy, you can place holds, etc.

Somehow I doubt the trend away from reading for recreation has anything to do with the retail price of books.

I’d tend to agree but every little bit helps.

Also consider the effect of redirecting fractions of the cost to deploy warships and effective regime change of a sovereign country towards the funding of libraries.

BTW: Reducing or removing VAT will rarely if ever benefit the consumer. Companies try to price close to the price you are willing to pay. So if you are used to pay a price with VAT included you will probably pay the same price without VAT.
