Not exactly the same but the prompt kinda reminded me of Matheson’s short story ‘Mad House’ in which the main character (a frustrated and angry failed writer) can perceive the anger and the desire to hurt him sweating from every item in their home and in the house itself, and ends up… well, to know what happens you gonna have to read it ;)
Not my favorite of his many great texts (‘I am Legend’ would be my first pick but there are many others, and by all means if you all you know about that story is its many movie adaptations, go read it it’s so much more smarter than all of those adaptations)
