I actually think their comments when it first went open source are pretty compelling. I don’t disagree with you and I’m interested to see how zedless fares, but new projects of this scale are tough to do well and quickly. I’m pretty happy with their current approach.

The knock on effects of substantial infrastructure interruptions like this can have massive impacts that snowball aggressively. Not saying you’re wrong, but it is nothing to scoff at. Things like this do have the potential to severely change the geopolitical landscape.

That there is never a good reason to comply is almost certainly objectively true, for one has no leverage to force compliance with the relief offered for such compliance. However, I suspect that is nearly an impossible thing to reason through under duress.
