Firstly, the Prime Minister and an MP are very different, so it’s not really a fair comparison. Replacing an MP with one of the same party might result in what? Your bins being taken out on a different day?

Anyway, I think this is a “don’t let perfect be the enemy of good situation”. Without any safeguards, an assassination is most likely to come from someone across the political spectrum than someone next to them. So it makes sense to focus on preventing that even if it does open a potential (risky to execute) exploit.

Like, sure someone could kill someone in the party they like for the chance to get someone they like better in power. But realistically it won’t change much (they’re still bound by the same whip) and it’s not worth the risk of going to jail.

Just a heads up to anyone reading this: Don’t format your home folder as FAT32/ntfs. Some stuff in there needs Linux specific permission bits and you might be limited in terms of maximum file size.

Consider mounting at /home/usename/shared or something instead if you want a shared drive.

I see lots of people recommending immutable distros to new users as if they are able to debug the inevitable breakages that occur or difficulty installing external programs.

I mean, bait aside, creating a new distro with an existing package manager allows you to set up a different set of default packages and even add your own new/updated ones. That’s the value of it there.

Unless it’s a JavaScript app which uses some random build system (that was popular when they started work on the app but is now outdated) that you need to set up and learn.

Or it’s a Python app that doesn’t work because you don’t have the right version of python and backwards compatibility is a myth.

Looks like it just downloads the .snap package (directly from Canonical’s website) and extracts it. It’s also, of course, completely closed source so who knows what it’s doing when it’s running.

Afaik they’ve, for now at least, shelved it in browsers, but are still going ahead in Android webviews (as part of their war on Youtube Vanced).

What convinced me was when they verified Apex Legends, which was a game I was not expecting to be verified at all. Turns out Proton secretly got really good in all that time.
