Reading the whole Bible (not just the feel-good parts) is what did it for me!

The only reason I can think of is to send a message
That reminds me of the striking Japenese bus drivers: https://japantoday.com/category/national/okayama-buses-strike-by-continuing-to-run-and-refusing-to-take-anyone’s-money
But that seems like a terrible strategy…
I mean… we are talking about the Democrats. That’s almost their motto.
“I don’t think we should bomb children”, “I think medial-debt shouldn’t be the largest cause of bankruptcy in our country”, “People should be able to oppose genocide”, “cops shouldn’t be able to assault innocent people without consequence”
“expect perfect”
I think your definition of “perfect” might be a little off.
Yes, Harris would have been better than Trump, but that is a pretty low bar. She spent her time trying to get as close to that bar as she thought she could get away with.
As someone who used to know a few LAPD officers, I now fear for the safety of those kids more than if the cops had stayed away.
I actually love email. While yes, this post is accurate, email is the most filterable communication system that I have. Since I have my own email-server, and I know how procmail rules work, I can tightly control who is allowed to contact me, and what folders their messages go into. It also has great crowd-sourcing of known spammers, that I can pull from to help me filter out spammy IP addresses.
Every other message system only has a “report spam” button, that is dependent on the service admins, and doesn’t actually stop people from sending me annoying junk-mail.
If anyone tells you that your teenage years are the best years of your life: Smile, nod, and slowly back away. Then never talk to that person again if you can help it.
No, I don’t. In fact, their wikipedia page shows activity up to 2022
The Twilight Zone episode was Shatner, the Twilight Zone movie was Lithgow. Both are great and worth a watch
I’ve heard it’s where all of the Reddit exiles signed up. I have no idea if it’s true or not, but it sounds plausible. I remember when people pointed out factually inconvenient things about Biden on Reddit, they’d get downvote-bombed.
Remember when they got mad after Trump said “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose any voters”? They said it was cult-like behavior by his followers.
But when Biden bombs children, or backs a genocide, it’s somehow not cult-like behavior to keep supporting him.
Chris Crawford was talking about this problem in 1992 and we still haven’t learned anything

I couldn’t find a transcription, and it covers a lot more than education, but it’s a good speech. The relevant part starts at ~12:45
I forget where I heard the quote, but:
Stack Overflow is a great place to find answers. Stack Overflow is a terrible place to ask questions.
…no one was actually pointing out that the Republicans were the same or worse.
Or the fact that everyone constantly and only was criticizing Biden…
Those are both completely untrue. I saw the election coverage. I saw a bunch of shit being thrown at Biden/Harris and Trump. The idea that it was one-sided is just ignoring how bad the Democratic candidates were.
Running unpopular candidates with unpopular positions is a bad idea. And being unwilling to call the DNC out for it is why we got such terrible candidates. Biden was the Emperor with New Clothes, and everyone could clearly see that. To place the blame on those who wanted a candidate that was popular with voters, instead of a naked emperor is disingenuous.
Well, I was talking about Harris, not Biden, but if you really want to know: Backing Genocide. Bad economic policy. Increased military spending. Half-assed fixes for healthcare costs. Half-assed fixes for policing. Half-assed fixes for climate-change. Just look at the polling at the time. It was clear that Americans didn’t like him or his policies.
It is relevant, because the DNC telling everyone that their clearly cognitively impared candidate wasn’t cognitively impared. That disenfranchised a lot of voters who gave up on the Democratic party after that. Harris had to spend her campaign with Biden and his legacy dragging her down.
You may think that the outrage at a clearly corrupt organization that handed the election over to fascists is silly, but a lot of people find that pretty important.
