Still though, from the fact you had to send in 4 times means that replacing mine from the get go with hall-effect was much less hassle. Sounds like the new controllers will be exactly the same quality, joystick-wise, since you had such a great experience. Why change the process?

I don’t know for sure if it was ever a thing in the USA. A cursory search only showed mention of Europe offering that repair. I didn’t even bother checking and just went straight for the hall-effect replacement sticks when I had joy-cons that drifted, probably a bunch of other people in that same boat.
IMO, the profits from this would still come even if they offer repairs. I’d venture to guess many out-of-the-loop parents would just buy the replacements ‘cause they probably think their kid is abusing it somehow. The good ol’ “sigh 'n buy” phenomenon to keep the kiddos entertained.
Let’s hope gulikit quickly puts out a hall-effect mod for the new versions (or the new versions still use the same joystick module as the original)

Of course they will, they make too much money off people buying replacements. Since the games also got an increase in price, I expect the joy-cons bought separately will also be marked up by a non-trivial margin.

It’s a really interesting thought, and under ideal circumstances would work IMO. Obviously things are never ideal and there would be all sorts of roadblocks and gotchas as something like this was developed. Things we could think of now, and other things we probably couldn’t. Not to mention the whole problem of, “who develops it and how much trust can you give them?”
As I was reading the idea, it made me think of the suits from A Scanner Darkly that the undercover narcs wore. Basically heavily obfuscated the voice and displayed always-changing patchwork human features to anyone observing from the outside, including trying to hide body shape. Something like that could get similar results. Obviously a video filter would be much easier to develop than a sci-fi suit, but still.
The question remains: did you hit CTRL+ALT+F3 because you needed to clean your monitor, or do you need to clean your monitor because you hit CTRL+ALT+F3?
This is pretty much the basis for the entire speed-running community. Maybe not totally different (like walking around as a peaceful tourist in Hitman), but definitely not utilizing mechanics as intended
Try a different shell, like fish or zsh, maybe. Something with really intense command auto-completion and history.
I personally use fish, it is amazing for this kind of thing.
ETA: also read up on rc files for whatever shell you are using. Creating aliases and functions based on what you do all the time is essential IMO.
I didn’t say don’t use it, I am just making a note for those that don’t know Tor and expect it to be the 1 tool to rule them it all.
Yes, some of the attacks I mentioned have been mitigated, but that’s no reason to assume it is 100% foolproof. Clearly, it wasn’t before.
Just know that various governments have been confirmed to be running their own Tor nodes and monitoring traffic. To the point where they can de-anonymize some stuff in the right conditions.

All this to say, take extra precautions and don’t get complacent just 'cause you’re using Tor. It’s kinda like how most car accidents happen within a mile of your home, because you’ve driven it so many times you some times check out and go into auto-pilot. Some people assume Tor is the end-all, and it is not unfortunately.
This assumes that Robots will have only the same 5 senses that humans do. Forgetting that they could also have things like lidar, xray, echolocation, sonar, etc. and the range of frequencies they could see/hear would probably be off the charts compared to our shitty ears.

Giving the would-be linux newbs the benefit of the doubt, IF they have any terminal experience at all it is with CMD/PowerShell. I don’t blame them one bit for wanting to banish all terminals into the shadow realms, they had a traumatic experience.
