not called Brad but rather a lad, from Bradford in the UK.

Enjoys breaking apps, escooters, spam rings and sometimes bones, drones, but not my own. Because that sucks.

  • Yeah, we do 12 hour shifts on a continental pattern and just finishing right now means I’ve got to grab a shower / food / minor chores and it feels like I don’t get time after work to even think.

However I love my long weekends off and won’t have to go back in until Tues night, giving me a three and half weekend and like it states in the article allows you to take up hobbies (some of being weather dependent) at your choosing. I could never work M-F ever again even thou the hours do suck a little. But, there is also the bonus of simply booking two shifts off and I get a whole week off.

  • You want it to auto record every phone call?

Yes. That’s how my phone is currently set up. My ex-wife is a psychopath, so everything gets recorded and backed up.

I’ve got to ask you something here and it’ll probably sound weird, but here in the UK if you did that you’d probably be in for a hard time, legally standing recording others without informing them.

But I’m more curious how often you listen back to these phone calls since you say you record each one, and do you keep lots of them/off-site etc?

  • Yeah like you I was an avid reporter to r/BotBust which when its owner went off the rails one of the team members then setup BotDefense, and I got recruited to resolve the reports from peeps like yourself and our little counterpart bot that flagged them at a fair old rate.

I ain’t seen nothing like BD over here on Lemmy and some of the bot accounts here are at least listed as such but I have seen numerous ones that aren’t “self labelled”. It’d take a fair amount of effort but if you’ve got enough people to review reports (especially the ones from humans) I can’t see why not as it’s basically looking for common markers / traits / flags.

The project supports more than 135 highly skilled jobs across the UK

Is that 135 individual positions, or just some mumbo jumbo job titles they’re making up?

The UK police can’t determine what is a legal 249gm drone or not as seen many times over with the auditors, so how on earth is this thing gonna work is beyond me?

Just trash the airwaves I guess.

  • It is absolutely insane, considering they have SCIF devices / rooms but also the option of “not using off the shelf” shit like Signal and using a phone number. But here they are.

Hell, they could even use something like Briar / Matrix / whatever that is decentralised/does not require a phone number unlike Signal but instead they sent emotes, and classified information detrimental to US citizens over a centralised (third party) platform. Literally, insane.
