I mean if i was just chilling in the woods having a good time and a group of people came along and were like ‘theres a dude missing in the woods, we’re super worried about him, help us look’ id probably join them too. Seems like more of a failure by whoever called the search party. Of course that would never happen to me because I’d never tell anyone where im going and nobody would miss me.
What exactly is closing one eye suppose to do?
Not sure what exactly you mean by that, whether you mean the cameras are elder abuse, or whether they’re to uncover elder abuse. But as a partner to someone who worked in long term care facilities, I’d say that although putting a camera in your loved ones room seems incredibly dystopian, the bigger concern is definitely monitoring the treatment of your loved one. Even in canada with our healthcare system, the long term care homes are disturbing. More and more of them are being bought out by private companies who understaff them to the point of criminal neglect. And when the staff are so extremely overworked and underpaid, then it begins to attract a disturbing element. I would be extremely wary of placing anyone in one of these homes, which is totally fucked because there isnt really an alternative in many cases. My partner used to work on a floor with 22 patients, and it was just one psw per floor, and one nurse for four floors most nights. People would go days without being showered, brushing their teeth or hair, without being changed if they had an accident, because there wasnt physically enough time to care for everyone. And thats someone who cared and was emotionally affected enough that they ended up leaving the field altogether. Not even taking into account the possibility that these jobs and conditions, with their lack of care and oversight can atteact significantly more sadistic personalities.
They probably were upset, but not upset enough to do anything about it because they still wanted to play it. I personally would have refunded it right away, and lots of people probably also did that.
Full sunlight filling the sky. Unless you’re in the far north or far south this would be very concerning.
Which was a deception in the first place, because it clearly distinguishes between ‘1 player’ where it doesn’t say anything about needing a network connection, and 2-8 player where it says network and playstation plus required. It also says network features can be removed at any time, but nowhere does it say 1 player is a network feature. It specifically does not say that.
The steam deck has way more potential, but CAN be just as simplr as only ever launching and downloading games through gaming mode. The parent downloads 5stean deck verified games and then all the kid has to do is use the joystick to switch between them. But then it also has the potential to be a learning experience or teaching tool as the kid grows. But the steamos gaming mode is dead simple to navigate and a child could definitely use it.
Idiots who have never used a steam deck and are obviously scared by the word linux in this thread. You can easily use the steamdeck without ever leaving gaming mode and with absolutely no troubleshooting needed. Its as simple as browsing steam, pressing download, and pressing play. I would absolutely give it to a child with a few games preloaded, and they would be perfectly fine to use it. The UI is way more friendly than the switch one also. Everytime ive tried to play a game on switch with friends theres been some update that takes ages, the Ui is slow and clunky, and connecting joycons is an absolute pain. What troubleshooting do you think is necessary to run a game from steam lmao?
Steam deck is definitely just as easy to use as the switch for playing and downloading basic games from the storefront. A 5 year old could absolutely use it easily with some games preloaded.
Just walk around downtown asking for drugs. If you dont find any and the drugs don’t kill you, someone probably will eventually.
In what way? Alberta is politcally basically the polar opposite to my beliefs, and is holding the entire country back. California is still not nearly left enough for my tastes, but aside from some outlying rural areas generally is much more favorable to my political views. With the exception of trade barriers and the fact that money going to california still impacts the US GDP, generally speaking Id rather give my money to people with similar beliefs as myself, especily if those people are trying to take a stand against trump/other fascist politicians and not licking their boots and huffing oil fumes like danielle smith.
Thats way less than most places in the US and less than fucking doug ford got in ontario. Less than Pierre was polling canada wide too. So yeah, I’d rather trade with them than say fucking alberta which is also way higher conservative poll numbers.
Yeah but if youre using a lemmy app on your phone its significantly faster to just use your phone camera rather than having to share/transfer the file over somehow, or sign into lemmy on your pc. Im not saying you’re wrong, but i get why someone wouldn’t care for a quick throwaway post. Also storage then isnt an issue on the PC at all because the image is only on the phone.
I loved my car. Just had to scrap it recently. I got sad. I didnt go through withdrawal symptoms or feel like i was mourning a friend. You can appreciate something without building an emotional dependence on it. Im not particularly surprised this is happening to some people either, wspecially with the amount of brainrot out there surrounding these LLMs, so maybe bizarre is the wrong word , but it is a little disturbing that people are getting so attached to so.ething that is so fundamentally flawed.
If you actually read the article Im 0retty sure the bizzarre thing is really these people using a ‘tool’ forming a roxic parasocial relationship with it, becoming addicted and beginning to see it as a ‘friend’.
I went through a period when i was a (pre)teenager where i thought it was funny to give the middle finger to the ceiling/corners of empty rooms in case there was a hidden camera there.
The best ranch ive had was actually made with buttermilk and was good with a lot of things, mostly fried foods.
As do a significant amount of the women. Like yeah, there’s a slight gender gap in trump voters, but it’s not nearly as big as you’d think or hope.
If they (the rich) dont grind your meat, they can’t have any pudding. How can they have any pudding if they don’t grind your meat?
