The amount of “but that’s not fair” on Lemmy is hilarious. Have none of you people been out in the world? I hate to burst your little digital bubble. The world isn’t fair and all I’m doing is being surprised by something every other country in the world does. Shrug.

Draconian != anyone can stay in a country even if they don’t have the legal right? That’s just standard in the world unless I missed something. Go and try staying with years in the UK. What do you think they’ll do when you pop up on their radar? Give you citizenship?

She isn’t being deported for a traffic violation…is that what you all think? It is OK to be deported if you are found out to be illegally staying in a country though. Kind of like literally every other country. If there is a country letting people just move to it let me know please.

Yeah it sounds like she isn’t a citizen. That sucks but does anyone in the US expect to be able to live in another country for decades without a visa or citizenship? I’m not for draconian immigration policies and randomly deporting people but if you aren’t a citizen and you aren’t allowed to stay then this is what happens. You know like everywhere else in the world.
