  • Exactly, Rawstory is basically the left wing version of Fox News, telling you what you want to hear instead of actual news. My basic takeaway from his statements is that the GDp is still growing just not quite as fast as it was last year.

I’m not an economist so I don’t know but the the S&P is also nearing in on a record highs again and it seems like most of the turmoil in the markets that we saw at the beginning of April is gone for now. I thought the Iran bombing would spook the market but not really. I know the markets aren’t the economy but it’s a bellwether for how the oligarchs and corporations are feeling about it.

I thought you were getting better at the insults and you went back to your tired old playbook. Must be my fault for thinking you might have had an original thought. Oh well, you’re boring now so I’m done for the evening. Good night and I hope you’re able to fix whatever is broken inside of you.

  • Eh, my 78 year old aunt who uses two canes to get around because she refuses to use a walker has been to a few different protests this year in the deep red state of West Virginia. I get what you’re saying about limitations and maybe we’ll reach that point sooner or later but I don’t think we’re at the run away to save yourself part yet unless you’re an immigrant or trans.

I also understand wanting to get out before shit goes sideways but again, I don’t think we’re there yet. Maybe I’m wrong but I hope not.

  • She said: “A child shouts, laughs and moves … we are institutionalising the idea that silence is a luxury and the absence of children is a luxury.”

While it is nice not to be around screaming children, I’ve never thought of it as a luxury. Even “luxury” seats on airplanes can’t promise to be child free. Children aren’t a protected class as far as I know so there should be no problem with private businesses that want to exclude them.

I have no kids but I love kids and I like being around kids sometimes but, sometimes I like it when they aren’t around. I did a camping trip last week and one of my friends left early because a family showed up to their site after dark and the parents let the kids run around and scream even after we explained that it was after quiet hours. She couldn’t take it any more and left in the middle of the night.

So in my opinion, there need to be places that are child free or at least days and times when kids aren’t allowed. Many of my local museums offer 21 and over evenings where they serve alcohol and you can enjoy the exhibits without children around and it’s a very nice compromise.

That’s your opinion. I was a leashed child at one point in my life and I don’t care at all. It was pre cell phones so that argument doesn’t work either. It’s not about the parent not wanting to deal with their kid, it’s about them not wanting the kid to bother other people and to prevent toddlers from running off in large crowds.

  • While what’s happening in Gaza is horrific, it’s sadly far down on the list of grievances against the so called “far left” in the US. It was just one that came immediately to mind. They’ve also had no problem with “Citizens United” which allowed unlimited money in politics, they’ve continued to support the police state in the US, a lack of any meaningful movement on healthcare.

Joe Manchin is no longer a Senator but he used to be considered a “centrist”. He was a fucking coal barron who used his influence to get his daughter a made up MBA, she in turn was CEO of Mylan when they jacked up prices on the life saving Eli-pen.
