    But what do you actually need in the first place? I mean it, all the stuff you mentioned I’ve never touched on a phone, how much worse would your life be without them?

    You definitely don’t need any programming learning apps to learn programming, I know that because I’ve personally done it. AI chats serve what purpose? Can’t you chat with real people? Art generators for what? What did you do before you were able to generate art? Audio and video editing on a phone means you can’t be doing this porfessionally, what are you actually editing? Why not do it on an older laptop that actually has access to open source apps that do this properly and almost as good as professional proprietary software?

    There is no need to change anything. You might consider making an account on another instance to be able to switch over if something bad happens with lemmy.world, you just start disliking it, or similar. But no need to change what works for you.

    That’s why I also only said that new users can simply be directed somewhere else.

    Storage (and bandwidth) is expensive, that’s the whole reason. Lemmy is community financed, and the amount people donate is not enough to add video storage. Theoretically it’s perfectly possible, Lemmy instances just have it disabled.

    For now, the only possibility is to host externally. I self-host a Lychee instance on my server, and use that to permanently share my content. But there are free services available that allow hosting videos, to which you can then share the link.
