In fairness, it isn’t always this way. Post WW2 Japan and Germany come to mind. The US has never really left those countries though. One could argue that South Korea is doing pretty well, most of the time.

I’m sure the glorious heros defending their flag and their country by killing a few thousand civilians as “casualties” before declaring mission accomplished are also eager to go spread democracy in one more country like Venezuela.
