Bullshit. Fuck Netanyahu.
Claims of Antisemitism have become a pretext to silence political dissent.
Merz conflates criticism of Israel’s politics (partially backed by the population) with criticism against the country as in a Jewish state per se. You can be pro-Israel and still condemn the genocide in Gaza. Same as you can still be an American patriot and condemn the actions of the Trump admin.
I don’t like Israel as a Jewish state, but that’s more about my belief that all states should be explicitly secular and ethnicity-neutral.
It is amazing that some people are still committed to the Hutuness of Rwanda aven after this exact obsession with Hutuness resulted in the Tutsi genocide.
If this was the Irish PM saying this, or the Spanish PM saying this, i would really be paying attention and taking it seriously. The German Chancellor? Whose country has a “staatsraison” to prioritize the “security” of a genocidal apartheid regime no matter what? Yea, you can fuck right off.
Birds of feather flocks together, I guess.
There will be an element of truth here, but knowing many Germans, I suspect nothing at all like a representative number or even close to significant.
Because criticism of Israel is way worse than killing thousands of innocent people and slow torturing the rest.
You know you can do neither?
Outside of the UK, USA and Germany, you can criticise Israel for their genocidal tendencies.
You can critisie isreal here in germany
Not too much though, you’ll get arrested. Definitely can’t protest against the genocide.
In my city was one without any arrests or problems
That’s the exception, not the rule.
other way around, but one is newsworthy, the other one isnt.
Using criticism as pretext for hating Jews ain’t good, still. You can not do that. You can also not genocide the Moslem.
No one said it was, but you knew that.
I wrote you could do either then you claimed it was illegal.
You can’t even read usenames.
Nobody said otherwise.
But mentioning that every time someone mentions the genocide is just deflection, and not the priority.
The comment literally said let’s talk about Muslim hate instead. That’s deflection too.
No, it’s pointing out the deflection, and prioritising tens of thousands of deaths (thousands of children) over it.
There are two things happening.
One is genocide
One is growing blame for the Jewish people.
Both are incorrect.
The first thing to concentrate on stopping is the genocide.
Fuck off Merz
There is a kernel of truth in what he says in that attacks on jews have increased significantly, which is horrible and wrong and needs to be fought, no doubt about that at all.
But granting unwavering support to a government that is currently engaged in what the UN has officially determined to be a genocide? That is clearly and horribly wrong. What else has to happen before the german government decides to stop supplying weapons? How much is too much? Like, is there a threshold of civilians killed?
What about the Jewish people who oppose the genocide in Palestine? Are they anti-semitic too?
The pro-murdering Palestinian children lobby is working overtime.
Probably because zionists are working so hard to keep the two terms synonymous. That’s not a justificatory reason to continue to actively support a genocidal state politically.
Exactly: The State of Israel and its regime is one thing and the jewish religion a completely different one.
Even more:
Religion != Ethnicity != State != Government
And that ethnicity is not only in this context incrisingly used as a stand-in for race…
