• Conservative activist Charlie Kirk has died after being been shot at a campus event in Utah, says President Trump

  • Kirk - an influential ally of the president - was known for holding open-air debates on campuses across the country

You’ve confused the mass shooting of school children, with the assassination of a Trump ally and mega right-wing pundit.

The political ramifications and blowback couldn’t be more dissimilar.

Just wait and see how much “can be done” about gun violence. Mind you it will be nothing about actual guns or gun violence, but lot of right-wing political levers are already moving to take full advantage of his death.

Woosh maybe? They were sarcastically repeating the talking points made by the people who argue against gun control… which included Kirk himself.

I understood the sarcasm, but I’m pointing out how radically different this situation is.

That sarcasm is rooted in the fundamental misunderstanding of the new political meta this shooting has unlocked.

Certainly, they will be taking full advantage of the situation to strategically strip people of their rights and hurt anyone that doesn’t fit in their world order. This specific situation is going to unleash an even bigger wave of authoritarianism, and you won’t find me arguing otherwise.

I suppose it was just a bit of an unexpected of a tone shift, going from a joking sarcastic comment to your reply that is dead serious about the actual consequences we’re staring at.
