    When you choose the bear

    When you say no

When you have a tiny lemmy comm that says ‘this is a women’s comm for women to talk women’s issues we don’t need male input on these things’

Somehow as an American society we have labeled anger as “not an emotion”. This has not been to our benefit.

Men are largely taught by society negative emotions like sadness, frustration, hurt, etc. are unacceptable to display - except via anger. Anger can act as a mask or a wall between you and your truer, deeper emotions, sometimes at least. Also, anger is absolutely an emotion, I haven’t heard that disputed, but it doesn’t equal flying into a fit of rage and screaming/throwing shit.

Anger can be a mask. It’s also real. When you have an ex wife lie to your kids and hurt him. You just want to smack the shit out of her to teach her for the 1000th time he isn’t a play toy. Or the kid that picks on him because he’s new and his mom just left and you want to tell that kid he doesn’t understand who he’s fucking with.

I know this sounds unhinged. Nothing was done and things are pretty stable now. However at the time anger is real that someone is mistreated and did absolutely nothing to deserve such treatment.

            Vehicle manslaughter and institutional racism.

They’re talking about how bad things get reframed for convenience. Male anger doesn’t make them emotional no!

So its technically illegal to rape people, but every friend ive had whos been fucking retarded enough to report one to the police has regretted it. Institutions just do it. Its socially acceptable. Like, how many of the people on the ballot last year weren’t rapists, of at least adults? It’s practically a cultural value.

The criminal penalties for killing someone with an axe and killing someone with a car are not the same. Often, even if it’s premeditated, you won’t do serious time, especially if you kill a ‘nuisance’ like a protestor or extremely marginalized person.

Yes, it’s strange to me how “emotional” came to mean essentially all the “feminine” ways of losing one’s composure but not the “masculine” ones.

I have a neighbour like that, I think. I’ve been living in the same place for years but a few months ago I started hearing someone yelling through the walls/floors. At first I thought it was a couple arguing because I kept hearing "“FUCK YOOOOU FUCK YOOOU FUCK” and “HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO ME?”

Then the same thing again a few minutes later. Maybe he was watching sports.

But he also yells the same things randomly. Sometimes at 2AM, sometimes at 2PM. Sometimes a few times in a row, sometimes just once. So I think he’s probably playing video games and just can’t help himself.

…this hits weird, 'cause I have a guy like this in my neighbourhood, but I know it’s not sports or vidya. Guy’s just on the thinnest of psychological threads. Which is a shame, he’s a pretty nice dude.

Coupled with your account being from lemmy.ca, I thought “Man I know who they’re talking about” before remembering Canada is really big and has about 41 million people in it.

This. My brother is an unhinged psycho when watching his sports teams do poorly. The only person who can stand to be in the same room with him while he watches football is his son who is just used to it.

That’s a male emotion. Imagine a woman that angry, or rather “hysteric” as it’s called in that case

Silence is golden and I don’t give a fuck off it’s a team fps. You can type your shit if you wanna talk shit.
