      “National pride isn’t toxic if the if the identity was made up enough lifetimes ago” is the message I get from people who aren’t American or Canadian.

        As someone from a country that was devastated in two world wars mostly for the excuse of national pride: All national pride is toxic.

        If you have to use propaganda to manufacture national pride, that usually means that the country has nothing to be proud of.

        If you as a person subscribe to national pride, that usually means you are nothing to be proud of.

        Well, some people even use the argument to justify the genocide in Palestinie since Palestine never was a nation and there are arguments that national identity started before the state of Israel. And I don’t care. I didn’t fight in the Teutoburg Forest and I’m pretty sure none of my ancestors did. My nation is as made up as all others. And I’m not even proud of the institution as some center left Germans are. #nobordernonation
