Cartwright described for Rolling Stone a years-long struggle to keep kids safe at school. “Munitions and tear gas — we aren’t new to this,” she says. “We’d been next to the ICE building the whole time.” She emphasized that the school has coexisted “harmoniously with the protesters,” but adds: “Our issue is the chemical weapons being used against them that were impacting our space.”

But as the intensity of the conflict rose, it soon became clear that the school would have to make a dramatic change. “We were getting nightly reports that green gas was enveloping our garden — our edible garden — and all of the different chemicals were impacting our soil.” Cottonwood faced the costly prospect of constant testing and remediation, or being unable to use its outdoor spaces. When the bottom dropped out of enrollment, the school chose to relocate to a recently vacant middle-school campus where Cottonwood could take over the lease.

Meta, what in the actual fuck happened in these comments?

Like 2 people posted the same comment thousands of times, shittalking a mod.

Personally I think the mod did what a mod should. The headline alone isn’t 100% factual. I hate that the left is resorting to the same half-facts that has made the right so powerful.

I certainly didn’t get the vibe that ICE was targeting protestors and the school was getting crossfire from the subheading. Not like that really defends ICE…they shouldn’t be using teargas against otherwise peaceful protestors no matter what, let alone within spotting distance of a school. Obviously ICE is very wrong here…but the headline itself tries to make them seem even more wrong, and the subheading doesn’t clear things up very much. That’s intentionally misleading.

I prefixed the comment with “Meta,” to indicate it is a meta comment…that is, a comment about the comments or the post itself, not about the content.

It’s an old troll user who got banned for cause back in the day then went off the rails creating dozens to hundreds of alt accounts.

Some day they’ll get the proper therapy and medication they need. Today is not that day. 😅

You shouldn’t even be allowed to spam comments that many times! There should be a time limit or something

the left is resorting to the same half-facts that has made the right so powerful.

This is nothing new. But it’s always said that, effectively, the left’s half facts are for the sake of the good. Which may be true but it still gives the right a reason to distrust the media and they’re right to do so. Meanwhile, you have people begging the Democrats to fight like MAGA does - which we’re seeing Newsom dabble with - but it’s not going to help restore any of what little trust and decorum that may have existed. Everything is spiraling towards shit.

You’re completely right about the half-truths not being a good look for the left. It only serves to erode trust in media and rhetoric. The reason it worked for the right is because that type of propaganda works on idiots that don’t bother to investigate or can’t actually comprehend what is going on. It’s not going to have the same effect for those that haven’t fallen for the rights tricks.

What we actually need is more truth to be reported and more democratic politicians to actually have a backbone or getting replaced by a leftist who does.

It really is. You can’t continue to play by the rules, gloves on and above the belt, when your opponent is slamming your balls like a speed bag with brass knuckles on.

But what do we do? If we speedbag their nuts, are we any better?
