In a battle between two Californians considering Democratic runs for president in 2028, Gov. Gavin Newsom holds a slight edge over former Vice President Kamala Harris, according to a new poll.

The poll, conducted by Politico and The Citrin Center public opinion firm, found Newsom is the top choice of 25% of California’s Democratic voters in the 2028 Democratic primary, leading all prospective candidates including Harris, the 2024 Democratic nominee, who is supported by 19% of the state’s Democrats.

The two high-profile Californians are followed in the poll by former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg (13%), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (10%), Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (4%) and New Jersey U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (4%).

I like what he’s doing right now. Mocking drumpf using his own stupid style of tweets is absolutely perfect and really seems to get under the pedo/rapist’s skin.

But I am not sure about him running for the presidency. I mean yes he’s better that the orange cancer… But can’t we do better? We need better!

Just to refresh memories, back in 2020 Democratic primary voters decided that picking a candidate exclusively on their perceived ability to fight Trump was more important than one who would be the best President. That didn’t end up working so well in the long run.

If the Democrats don’t elect a transformative President that will twist arms in Congress and put the people ahead of the oligarchs, then get used to the idea of President Vance in 2032.

It’s an obvious ploy to gain cultural following leading up to his run. He hired a PR team and this is the result.

Nobody sensible wants Harris. She was shit before, no way she’ll get better. Is she trying to throw the next election too?

An Ocasio-Cortez / Walz ticket would be a dream come true. I believe Newsom is too much of a neoliberal and opportunist to actually begin to revert the US into a progressive state, and would ultimately cause someone like DeSantis to be elected afterwards.

Waltz/AOC would have a much better chance of success since America is still pretty sexist.

Yeah, because Hillary, Kamala, and AOC are all candidates of equal quality (women), and even considering a woman is a mistake, because as we all know, women shouldn’t and can’t try to become leaders in government.

Libs are so fucking eager to surrender to misogyny. It is sickening.

The problem isn’t that the previous candidates were women, it was that everyone fucking hated them and their policies were monstrous.

The dems who voted for Biden and stayed home for Harris were older white men/women and older Hispanic men.

Those groups have issues with toxic masculinity and racism, implying the reason they stayed home was because the canidate with the same platform was not a white man like Biden.

Fuuuuck the DNC. I really hope that people actually vote in the primaries, if they actually happen, and we don’t end up with another fucking corporate fellating Dem on the ticket for the general election. Then again, I don’t want to hear about the goddamn next presidential election when the mid-terms are next in line.

Great, so you are another fascist enabler. You dont need to like his policies but if he is the person to stop the fascist and you dont support him or even vote for him you are on the side of the fascists.

You dont need to like his policies

That’s just it: his policies are how he governs. Awful Neoliberal policies devastating working people to the point that most can barely afford to live is (along with billionaire-owned yellow media) how things got bad enough for a resurgence of fascism.

That being said, the Neoliberal style of campaigning where the vast majority of their messaging is aimed at converting the increasingly tiny sliver of a demographic that have voted GOP and would ever in a million years vote Dem while ignoring the leftmost two thirds of their own base is a losing strategy that lost to the most unqualified and repulsive presidential candidate in living memory if not ever. TWICE.

In conclusion: his policies (and the fact that he’s almost as corrupt as your average Republican) would make him an awful president, and the campaign strategy of the DNC that he’d doubtlessly go along with would make him likely to lose to someone even worse.

Supporting the Democrats is supporting fascist enablers. Well they had power. They gave up two supreme Court pics. They were more than happy to rally behind a false immigration debate, they avoided the prosecution of actual criminals. Just assuming that they would go away, they failed to codify roe v. Wade in law. The Democrats have basically for the last 50 years done. Almost nothing short of handover power and make a really crappy healthcare system. Slightly less crappy temporarily.

We’re here now because they didn’t have the backbone to fight fascists.

I honestly can’t believe they haven’t learned the consequences of doing nothing when the bare minimum would have saved so many people.

I am left to believe that trump’s bot campaign is back in full force because frankly, I cannot believe someone can be this willfully ignorant.

The important thing here is that you’re right and should continue preaching the same message because it worked so well the last time. And changing tactics wouldn’t be a sign of learning something or not being lazy.

I tell them to not expect worsening conditions to teach liberals the right lesson and they should vote as if they’re choosing a boss fight. In that context fascist-light is the correct choice.
