It’s a winning strategy if they can pull it off. Spoil the democrats’ vote by organizing the republicans who know they are bound to lose to vote for cuomo. and once again the only thing on decency’s side is decency itself because this coordination is perfectly lawful, and mamdani can basically only appeal to the honor of cheaters or the passion of an apathetic public to do anything about this.

What I’m not seeing is any explanation for why the DNC, an independent and definitely-not-captured opposition party, is accepting help from president Donald “not only is the emperor not wearing any clothes but i’m pretty sure I can make out decades-old dried blood and jism on his thighs” Trump. Unless of course cuomo has taken that extraordinary step for himself, which of course leads to the question of why the DNC, an independent and definitely-not-captured opposition party, would tolerate such a brazen display of broken faith and seeking finding comfort from their supposed opponents. it’s because cuomo isn’t running as a democrat this time.

Cuomo is running as an independent. He is running against the DNC.

Cuomo is running against the Democratic nominee, not the DNC. I haven’t seen the DNC has step up to back Mamdani, and it’s pretty clear that DNC leadership backs Cuomo.

The closest I’ve seen is an interview With Tim Miller of The Bulwark and Jeffries. In that interview he presses him on that, where’s the endorsement? All he could bring himself to answer with was ‘I can tell you, the only person I have scheduled meetings with are with Mamdani’, so actually I’d say it’s pretty clear that DNC leadership isn’t backing Cuomo but also not doing much for Mamdani either, which is bad and absurd but not as bad actually as backing someone other than who the people chose in the primary.

You can’t simply take the lack of vocal support in this intermediate time in between as clear evidence that they back Cuomo, reality is far more nuanced. Your take could have more ground to stand on as we get closer to the actual election without anything different happening though.

Oh look, the Democrats just unendorsed the progressive Democratic candidate for mayor in Minneapolis based on some procedural technicality. It’s almost like there is a pattern.

That’s why they don’t get the benefit of the doubt anymore. When someone pulls the same shit over and over again and always has an excuse, the excuses stop working.

The DNC doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt. No endorsement and no support from Democratic leaders is active opposition to his run. They burned up all their second chances years ago. Anyone paying attention knows who they are.

Well, he was supposed to win the DNC primary, that’s what the DNC wanted.

Cuomo represents the will of the DNC
