Melania Trump has demanded that Hunter Biden retract comments linking her to the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and has threatened to sue if he does not.

Biden, the son of the former president Joe Biden, alleged in an interview this month that Epstein introduced the first lady to Donald Trump.

The statements were false, defamatory and “extremely salacious,” Melania Trump’s lawyer, Alejandro Brito, said in a letter to Biden. Biden’s remarks were widely disseminated on social media and reported by media outlets around the world, causing the first lady “to suffer overwhelming financial and reputational harm,” he added.

Biden made the Epstein comments during a sprawling interview with the British journalist Andrew Callaghan in which he lashed out at “elites” and others in the Democratic party who he said undermined his father before he dropped out of last year’s presidential campaign.

I didn’t know that Hunter Biden sat for an interview. I didn’t care what Hunter Biden is up to these days. I guess I still don’t. I’m sure he says a lot of things. By surfacing this one comment, though, now I’m aware that Epstein introduced her to her husband. Fascinating.

Using Vance as a shield is about the weakest defense ever. If that’s the price for justice, so be it, and we’ll deal with him next.

Its not that we want to believe everything about Trump, but that we know hes a deplorable human and that most of this is probably true. You have to start opening your eyes to the absolute corruption that is taking over and that has completely taken over the Republican party. Which by the way, is supposed to be the party of law and order, trad family values, and small government, of which they are holding none of those values up on a pedestal anymore. I mean Vance is literally in support of deporting his wife and children (as they are of Indian descent). You cant tell me there arent better options within the party that would make fine presidents, so long as they kept the nationalism down to a minimum.

This article was amended on 14 August 2025. Andrew Callaghan is a US journalist, not British as an earlier version said.
