I’ve recently read a book by Maciej Górny, where he in particular described how pre-WWI European scientists strived to prove that everyone to their east and south are Mongols actually. British called French Mongols, French called Germans Mongols, Germans and Swedes called Poles and Finns Mongols, Poles and Finns called Russians Mongols and Russians had to alternate between calling Mongols Mongols and saying “we are Mongols and it is based actually”.
Imagine being so racist that Germans and Swedes are not white enough for you.
