Today’s game is Sea of Thieves. For the first time ever me and some friends managed to get a full crew together and sailed my ship. We even managed to get our resident chef and arsonist to join us. He adds an extra challenge because the only thing he really does is stand at the stove and let food cook. He never really cycles it off so we have to make sure to regularly take food off the stove for him. He does help out though, like in the screenshot above where he fell asleep at the map. He was talking in his sleep about Gophers. I ended up laying down next to him and joining him for a little nap. He ended up sleeping through an entire battle with a megaladon.
The fight was over the ocean during the middle of the day, and i don’t know if it’s my fancy new gaming rig or the water got an update, but god is this gorgeous. The light was playing with the waves and it looked so good i almost forgot we were being attacked by a huge ass shark and down a man.
We did a sea fort, and while my friends were looting it, one of them tried bringing the boat up and got it stuck, and i went to go get it unstuck. I ended up getting it free quickly, and i got this lovely view of the sunset.
We ended off our night with this wonderful parking job done by my first mate, who was distracted after our chef threw a fire bomb at him and then stopped the anchor from descending. It all turned out okay though, because my ship was undamaged. Just stuck in a tight squeeze. It’s future me’s problem though.
When I first started seeing these posts I wondered how long this would go on for. I hope you’re still having fun and I’m excited to see the streak hit a whole year! (Fingers crossed)
I played so much SoT back around 2019/2020! Was such a blast just hanging out on the seas.
I agree with your comment about the water, it really is beautiful.
I know folks have mentioned disliking the pvp aspect and believe me I get it - I was never particularly good at it especially in close encounters. But I will say some of the most genuinely exciting memories I have are of those times when we had a boatload of loot with some pirates hot on our tail and managed to get away with it.
The crew I played with eventually moved on to other things but I still miss it now and then.
Sea of Thieves is such an amazing game. I love just taking my boat and doing the treasure hunting. I haven’t played in over a year because the one thing i can’t deal with is the pvp. I am not good at it and frankly i have zero interest in it. But it is forced on you and people will sometimes just chase you till the ends of the ocean to take you out. I know there is now a “safe seas” mode but it is soooo limited. You aren’t even allowed to take your own ship 🥺.
I always played with my partner and my little sister. But my little sister just ends up getting drunk, eating all the food and falling off the boat hahaha. So we put her ass in the jail sell till she sobers up.
But fuck do i miss this game… alright time to reinstall!
I love your posts btw! I check and read the whole post every day. Always gets me excited to play the games you are currently playing.
I’m not hog on the PvP either, especially when you get people who are so deep in the Meta that they’re employing advanced strategies. I’m not against the PvP, but I wish there was a way to just toggle it on or off while still being public. Because I do genuinely enjoy it from time to time.
I hope you have fun reinstalling. And thanks for enjoying it. I like seeing people try games i suggest. Makes me happy I convinced others to try new things (or pick up old ones in this case)
The dislike for forced PvP resonates with me. I thought about picking up Sea of Thieves (after a Pirates of the Caribbean marathon don‘t judge me) but the user reviews mentioning bad experiences with PvP put me off again. Maybe we‘ll see an unofficial shard server in the future.

Opened the feature and severely limited aspects of the game.
TBf they’ve cnanged a bunch since then, even still all they’ve really done is limited the PvP aspects.
If you love the PvE aspect of the game, then you aren’t missing anything in safe seas

My brother and I played a few times, but he’s not into it.
I like playing alone sometimes but then it gets boring and repetitive playing by myself. I’m not into PvP either so I’m okay with meeting AI enemies, but as soon as another human comes around, I usually noped out because I just don’t want to be bothered.

Not especially. Some people have suggested a ‘best of’ post which I’m thinking about. I always have a certain handful of games that I’ve 100% over the course of the year which I think it might be fun to showcase my favorite screenshots from. I’ll probably draft this one ahead of time unlike the others. I might also do a normal screenshot as the “main” screenshot and then the body is the anniversary
We have a crewmate who only ever gets drunk, cooks, and vomits on people. Not always in that order. But she’s a blast on comms!
Those are the best kinds of crewmates. Always brings a special kind of life to the crew

They kinda murdered the game for me when they made it so easy to switch servers during play and avoid ever fighting anyone…
I do get that. I’m not big on the PvP personally, but it is part of the game so I’ll never shame anyone for liking it. Still, it sounds like there would be better ways to handle it then just switching servers
