Summary
Idaho teacher Sarah Inama is defying her school district’s order to remove classroom posters promoting inclusivity, including one stating, “Everyone is welcome here.”
The district claims the signs violate a policy requiring “content-neutral” decorations and argues that classrooms should be “distraction-free” environments.
Inama initially removed them but later rehung them, arguing the only opposing view to inclusion is exclusion.
Legal counsel upheld the district’s stance, giving her until the school year’s end to comply. Inama refuses, risking her job, and has received widespread support from the community and educators nationwide.
How is “everyone is welcome” not “content -neutral”?
Some of the letters are printed in colors almost as scary as the colors of a rainbow. That’s the only “offensive to idiots” thing I can possibly come up with.
Because it doesn’t express support for fascism.
The message was supposedly fine, but you can’t have it delivered by someone with brown skin.
Seriously: “the district told the Statesman that it was not the message that was at issue, but rather the hands of different skin tones on the poster.”

Wow. What colour hands would they recommend? Let me guess…
Maybe the two vampire hands were the problem.
Acknowledging that there is a goal of equality within society at all is now legally non-neutral. There is legal pressure to allow white supremacy, patriarchy, and xenophobic christian nationalism to exist as they are without any pressure to change them. To acknowledge that disadvantaged classes of people exist and face discrimination in any form is illegal, or at least that is their intent.
It doesn’t support cishet white males, obviously
It actually does, but it supports other people too. That’s the bit they can’t stand.
bro the sign is in a classroom in a country which is an oligarchy. Promoting equality amongst the next generation of workers goes against the interests of the oligarchs who financially control the country
Because neutrality is oppression.
