A former Israeli captive has admitted that she felt more safe and protected in Gaza than in Israel, the Hebrew Maariv newspaper reported yesterday. Mia Schem, 23, was released as part of a prisoner swap deal in November 2023.

Earlier this month, Schem identified herself as the plaintiff in a previously reported rape case against a famouse personal trainer in Tel Aviv, who is a prominent figure on social media and has several celebrity clients, including a former prime minister.

According to the paper, Schem alleged that the rape took place in her home, using a date rape drug, and that she does not remember many of the details.

A court placed a complete gag order on the investigation including the identities of the parties involved.

According to official reports, while thousands of sexual harassment and assault cases are reported each year, almost nine out of ten rape cases are closed without charges.

Literally killing people over their non-existent god. It’s so pathetic and pointless.

I’m just going to point out the contradiction in Israeli society where sexual violence by Hamas drives the population to apoplectic spasms while the rape of a citizen by a public figure gets the shrug of the shoulders and “she’s just doing it for attention/money”.

You’re white-washing Israel’s genocidal society. They rioted in the streets and proudly protested on TV for the right to rape Palestinian prisoners.

      This is genocidal mania.

And somehow every time Zionists are filmed in some sort of protest, they’re always threatening rape.

Exactly what I’m referring to. Similar things were said at the campus protests too.

It’s bonkers. This is why I think that morality derived from religion is very fragile. Rape is one of the few things that should be considered a vile act, no matter the context. Even murder can be justified if done in self defense, or to protect a loved one. But rape is never justified. If someone rapes someone, or even threatens to rape, I no longer consider them to be human.

Yet, these so called religious people have no qualms with it, as long as it happens to the people they hate.

Zionism is an ethnosupremacist fascist ideology. Conflating Zionism with Judaism is false and dangerous. This is a problem with conservatism, right-wing ideologies always dehumanize based on whatever is deemed inferior, be it race, gender, religion, ect.

I’m not conflating those. It’s true for all religions. People claim to be religious and then do the most vile things. Extremist sects like Zionists make it worse, but the nature of morality in religion makes it vulnerable to corruption. If your morality comes from a book, it changes quickly when someone presents you with a different interpretation.

Zionism is not a religious sect though. It is a secular movement and has nothing to do with religion. The founders of Zionism were very open about their Atheism. They do not follow the Torah, else they would have to wait for their Messiah to lead them into Palestine.

I definitely agree that people / ideologies co-opt religion to justify their own ends. But I also know many people do not practice religion this way, and that there are religious groups that practice religion in a progressive way. Just wanted to decouple that co-opt / corruption of religion from religion itself being evil. I’ve seen people use the latter to justify hatred against entire peoples practicing a religion; it’s clear that you’re not doing anything like that. Thanks for the reply

Without getting into politics, this looks really suspicious. They claim she said that but there is no qoute proof or anything, this entire article is only a few paragraphs…

Again, not gonna get into it all but why share news that are basically the same as a random tweet

Sorry, but this is a very big stretch for an anti-Israeli story. Kinda ignores that Hamas killed far more than they took hostage as well.

Edit: ITT - a lot of people living in a fantasy world where Hamas captivity is a better lifestyle than Israeli citizen.

History didn’t begin on oct 7th. Israel is a belligerent terrorist state that started by terrorist actions and the ethnic cleansing of 700k+ Palestinians from their land.

Source that hamas killed more people on October 7: trust me bro … “Israel”

The reality is, they didnt allow UN investigation, they buried and burn cars. Then news comes out later about the Hannibal directive.

      Some news:

In July, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz revealed commanders in the IDF gave the order to fire on troops who had been captured by Hamas at three separate locations, explicitly referencing the Hannibal Directive.

One former Israeli officer, Air Force Colonel Nof Erez, told a Haaretz podcast the directive was not specifically ordered but was “apparently applied” by responding aircrews.

Panicked, operating without their normal command structure and unable to coordinate with ground forces, they fired on vehicles returning to Gaza, knowing they were likely carrying hostages.

“This was a mass Hannibal. It was tons and tons of openings in the fence, and thousands of people in every type of vehicle, some with hostages and some without,” Colonel Erez said.

Air force pilots described to Yedioth Ahronot newspaper the firing of “tremendous” amounts of ammunition on October 7 at people attempting to cross the border between Gaza and Israel.

“Twenty-eight fighter helicopters shot over the course of the day all of the ammunition in their bellies, in renewed runs to rearm. We are talking about hundreds of 30-millimetre cannon mortars and Hellfire missiles,” reporter Yoav Zeitoun said.

“The frequency of fire at the thousands of terrorists was enormous at the start, and only at a certain point did the pilots begin to slow their attacks and carefully choose the targets.”

An Israeli Apache helicopter loaded with missiles flies through clear blue sky. Israel reportedly enacted the Hannibal Directive at midday on October 7.(Reuters: Ammar Awad) Tank officers have also confirmed they applied their own interpretation of the directive when firing on vehicles returning to Gaza, potentially with Israelis on board.

“My gut feeling told me that they [soldiers from another tank] could be on them,” tank captain Bar Zonshein told Israel’s Channel 13.

Captain Zonshein is asked: “So you might be killing them with that action? They are your soldiers.”
