  • I cut the cable TV cord in 1999. For whatever movies/TV we’ve wanted to watch, we’ve just gone to our public library to get DVDs and later on, streamed stuff.

uBO in all the browsers as well.

If you make a concerted effort, you can de-TV the household and it takes little time to find ways pick up on watching the things you like - w/o commercial interruption… I could not imagine watching an evening of broadcast TV.

Given that the average show is now 40 minutes long - thats an hour of commercials between the 3 primetime hours of 8 and 11 pm.

I’m not going to waste an hour every night looking at things I do not want or need in my life.

    Fuck that shit.

  • This is the way.

It’s hard though, to just get liabilty on a car if you’re still making payments on it.

It’s gotta be 100% yours with no payments or liens on it.

Then you can go for a nice high liability policy. I’ve always bought older used and just gotten policies to cover OTHER people I may accidentally hit. No collision - If i’m not paying attention and slide off the road into a rock… that’s on me.

I also would add glass and theft to that liability policy. The glass coverage saved my ass a few years ago when I caught a rock behind (what else?) a dump truck.

  • Ain’t that the truth.

If you pull up the ewg.org working map of the perflouro- contaminated sites in the country, it’s horrifying.

Thing is, if the Pro Publica article is correct, these chemicals are afflicting male reproductive viability at the EXACT same time the Trump Administration’s cabinet is filed with natalist-leaning advisors… and they just don’t see it as going into part of why men are fathering fewer children.

They lay the blame on feminism and the birth control pills.

Thing is, globaly, male fertility has been falling for decades. Wanna bet part of it is tied to chemical exposure?

    But… we won’t go there…

  • I found one of these my junior year in high school. It was on the rear door of the gym, and it was a cold morning so I carefully picked it up and it was vibrating as I brought it inside to ask my science teacher what it was.

I kept it inside until just before first class started and took it outside and set it on the far corner of the small greenhouse that the 4H students had for their agriculture class.

    Beautiful animals…

  • Look at the demographic of any “left” and you generally find kids that don’t understand how societal power works.

Taking a few classes on sociology and reading Marx is fine and all that, but they need to understand the framework of conformist, consumerist America and leverage that… and as it’s anathema to what Marx says… they’ll forever be smacking their heads against the walls.

Then they grow up and become Wall Street brokers.

Sause: Am 60, and have seen this same shit happening over and over - for decades.
