The details of the Lincoln Assassination Conspiracy are fascinating, and it was a MUCH bigger plot than most people understand.

For instance, the assassination was Plan B. Plan A was to kidnap Lincoln on his way to the theater, and trade him for Confederate POWs, who were badly needed to fill out the depleting Confederate army.

The conspirators were all in place along the wooded route to the theater, ready to snatch him, when Lincoln changed his mind at the last minute, and skipped the performance, foiling the plot.

Soon after, the war ended, and the conspirators decided to change their plot to an assassination of the entire Union leadership, in revenge for the surrender.

I think actors were a bit more political back in the day.

    Everyone was, I think.

Because you could create the sort of distance you can nowadays with the internet. There’s a bunch of gen x/xillenial crazies who only out themselves on social media with their posts.

I saw it a while back but I loved the idea that it was possible to see a serving president, who was a legend in wrestling as the story goes, absolutely wreck a currently famous actor and throw them from the balcony had he noticed in time.
