The second polish republic was an authoritarian regime though. I agree with everything else in the meme, the last pannel just makes it rhetorically look like that’s not the case.
Tankies must have amazing oral skills the way they suck off Stalin 🥵.
Explanation: The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was a ‘non-aggression’ pact between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany which outlined carving up Eastern Europe between the two polities. In accordance with the pact, the Soviet Union invaded Poland with Nazi Germany in 1939.
Soviet apologists often claim that it was ‘just’ a non-aggression pact, which raises the question why the fuck they were assisting Nazi Germany genocide Poland, and why the pact involved carving up the Baltic states. The Soviets would go on to supply Nazi Germany with important war materiel until 1941, when the Nazis invaded the Soviet Union.

While some slowdowns and negotiations occurred especially during the early negotiations of specific orders,[3]: 105 the Soviet Union met most of its requirements under the agreement.[18]: 108 It became a major supplier of vital materials to Germany, including petroleum, manganese, copper, nickel, chrome, platinum, lumber, and grain.[19]
The Soviet Union also bought and shipped other materials to Germany, such as rubber[19] from India.[18]: 110 The Soviets shipped approximately 800 million deutschmarks of goods.[18]: 110

Can you actually reason with an authoritarian about politics in the first place?
Not generally. The best in most cases to be done is to make it clear that their misinformation is just that - and vile and reprehensible besides.
reason
Interesting choice of verb. I guess it differs from “argue” as it requires a willingness to consider the other’s ideas.
Because, of course you can argue with them. Many have more than 2 braincells to rub together.
Cowbee @ lemmy . ml has an entire essay prepared about how they were actually “protecting” Poland from the Nazis by invading it. if you mention the brutal soviet repression of the polish in response they will call fake news lol.
Fascinating the lengths they go for apologia narratives.
Does it even really matter if they where the good or bad guys during ww2? It changes nothing about them invading Ukraine.
You’re right that it changes nothing about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine being reprehensible, but those are two different polities, with different leadership.
True, but this comes up a lot when discussing the war in Ukraine.
THE POLES WERE NAZIS
Kinda like saying the Southern states aren’t filled with a bunch of racists anymore after they lost the civil war in the US.
Those people never left, they had kids, grew communities, kids got taught, and it’s now today.
What’s changed again?

The meme is about the Soviets allying with the Nazis to invade Poland in 1939.
Not really sure what point you think you’re making here.
The comparison they are making is that Poles are still nazis like the southerners are still racists. So I guess they buy into the tankie propaganda?
Obviously as a false claim it’s irrelevant to the meme. Even if that were true, though, it would be irrelevant to the meme?
It is the same thing as the last panel…
The last panel is claiming the Poles, at the time, were Nazis.
So is aramova.

That wording sounds much more like they’re accusing modern Poles of being Nazis after Nazi occupation.
The nazis demolished Poland and killed thousands of Poles. Do you realize how insane you sound by claiming that Poles are nazis?
Karol Nawrocki even being a name mentioned is enough to say that the Poles are still bought in, if they want to admit it or not.
