I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this trailer drop. I’ve had this game on my Steam wishlist since 2013!
For those who don’t know (I didn’t), the first trailer for this game was released 12 years ago, way back in 2013:
What a curiosity. What happened for development to take this long?
From what I remember, this started as a solo dev’s passion project, and he refused most help fearing it could compromise his vision. Unfortunately it got to the point where development slowed and I beleive even stopped completely for a time. I’m not sure if he ended up overwhelmed, or maybe just got bored or ran out of funds, or maybe a combo of those, but a couple years back he decided to bring in a few more people to share the burden and finally get the project finished.
Usually, when there is that much time between announcement and actual release, so much changes. The vibe and art direction really stayed the same.
I love the 1980’s cassette-futurism aesthetic they got going on, and the very impressive fluid dynamics/light processing tech. Considering this game has been in the works for 12+ years, I bet it’ll be an exceptional horror game!
Let’s hope so, such a long development isn’t necessarily a good thing (i.e. Duke Nukem).
Holy crap, this still exists.
