In French we use to say “Dans le doute, abstiens-toi”. Not sure what would be a common similar expression in English, “when in doubt, don’t”? Meaning I consider they can’t be trusted simply because we can’t be sure what’s going on (with Apple, as well as with most other corporations).
I started using Apple in the early to mid-80s and was happy using them. It all changed a few years ago, when I realized I could not be sure they were trustworthy like they used to be and that is not because they were better back then, simply because a few years ago all apps and tools were not constantly connected to the internet and phoning back to them. Realizing that, and disagreeing with a few other recent changes they had made, I decided to stop using them.
I also quit giving them money. Maybe if enough of us were doing that that would help? I’m not even sure at this stage: they’re so rich and so powerful do they still even need us?
I believe the expression in English is “When in doubt, do without.”
I’ve been attempting to deGoogle and deMicrosoft. It’s a very hard challenge, especially since my work is fully onboard with Microsoft.

Yeah, it’s real hard to move away from them.
I was able to do so because I don’t have a boss around me. My spouse works in one of those large corps (quite close to Microsoft) and that’s not as easy for her. But she still can make a clear cut between her personal and professional life and not use any of them for stuff that are not related to her work.
