This is mostly down to NESO changing the way projects are approved from being “first come, first served” to “first ready, first connected”.
In other words, it used to be rush to get a spot in the queue for a national grid connection and hold onto that spot until you’ve sorted out the other shit you need.
This lead to a load of “zombie” projects blocking the queue for legitimate ones.
Now, in theory, this new system means that they’ll only let you in the queue if you have everything ready to go: funding, planning permission, feasibility studies, ground surveys, etc.
Let’s see how effective it will be.
