Too bad they’re shit.
Still too overpriced plastic.
Do you know of European cheaper alternatives?
North Star Figures makes figures for Osprey games, like Frostgrave.
Both are from the UK.
Good shout.
One of the most important things about GW is they’ve created a strong hobby base in the UK and trained a lot of people in game and model creation, who then leave and set up their own companies, making Nottingham a hotbed of such activity.
Warlord Games are there - they make Bolt Action, Black Powder, etc as well as skirmish games for 2000AD.
There is also:
I know that you can find people that will 3d print models for you for way cheaper than GW and ship them to you, idk about that quality of the products tho
Often better, sometimes much worse. The only thing GW has going for them is consistency, which you can find after rolling the dice a few times on small orders from 3d printing shops.
Fria Liga (aka Free League) has lots of niche tabletop games, although iirc, they focus much more on the RPG side than the wargaming side.
There’s lots of good stuff in the UK that I’ve found by browsing Kickstarter and small independent game shops online. I don’t what you’re into specifically, but there are lots of grimdark Mörk Borg inspired stuff out there right now that use system-agnostic minis for wargaming. Forbidden Psalm is one I’ve been pretty into for a bit, and I think they’re out of the UK.
Disclaimer: I have no idea what the gaming scene is like for a lot of these; I just have a bad habit of collecting indie games I’ll likely never play
sadly no. Ulisses Spiele used to have a squad based fantasy wargame. But thats kinda it, the market heavily cornered by GW.
Buying a 3d printer?
They’re a publicly traded company and would happily lick MAGA taint if they’d see big quarterly growth.
And their over top all against all settings proved to be ideal recruiting grounds before the first Trump election, e.g. God Emperor Trump memes, purging the unclean, etc.
